Reform of the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act
April 5, 2010: The Safe Chemicals Act would require safety testing of all industrial chemicals, putting the burden on industry to prove that chemicals are safe in order to stay on the market. BCA signed on in support, urging lawmakers to set a high bar for the protection of public health, to address the impact of toxic chemicals on communities of color and low income communities, and to immediately act on the worst chemicals.
Support Letter for California Senate Bill 928
March 30, 2010: SB 928 will require manufacturers of cleaning products to disclose the ingredients in their products to consumers. Current law does not require manufacturers to do this. SB 928 will give consumers the information they need to make educated decisions about their purchases.
